A series of heterocyclic sulfoxide derivatives (l-X) were prepared by cyclization of ethyl-p-methylphenyl sulfonyl acetpacetate or diethyl-p-methyl phenylsulfonyl malonate with hydrazine, phenylhydrazine, urea or o-phenylenediamine. The prepared compounds were found to be active against E. coli.
