Synthesis and Structural Studies on 1,8,15,22 - Tetrahydroxy Phthalocyanines of Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II)

Metal (II) 1,8,15,22-tetrahydroxy phthalocyanines. (MPTOHs) of cobalt (CoPTOH), nickel (NiPTOH), copper (CuPTOH) and zinc (ZnPTOH) were prepared from the corresponding amine derivatives.These complexes were characterized by elemental analyses, electronic spectra, IR spectra, magnetic susceptibility measurements, thermogravimetric and x-ray diffraction studies to evaluate their purity, structural integrity thermal stability and crystallinity. The effect of substftuents on the electronic spectra and the orbital contribution to the magnetic moments over a range of field strength are discussed.
