A survey of literature reveals that p-dimethyl amino benzylidene rhodanine have been used for spectrophotometric determination of Silver and Copper1,2. The present communication reports determination of trace amount of copper, silver and nickel using newly synthesised 5-(2-methyl-4-N-cyanoethyl-N-benzenesulphonyl amino benzylidene)-Rhodanine as analytical reagent. Method is found to be fairly selective and more sensitive for the determination of silver.
