Silver (I) complexes of some new-5-substituted phenylazo rhodanine derivatives; 5-(5'-o phenylazo-salicylidene) rhodanine, 5-(5-p-methoxy phenylazo-salicylidene) rhodanine; 5-(5-o-methyl phenylazo-salicylidene) rhodanine and 5-(5-p-methyl phenylazo-salicylidene) rhodanine have been prepared and characterised by analytical, physical and spectral data. It was recorded that the studied rhodanine derivatives function as bidentate ligands and the formed complexes correspond to 1:1 molar ratio. The study concluded that the silver (I) gets co-ordinated through thio-carbonyl and nitrogen part of the rhodanine entity.
