A new spectrophotometry method has been developed for the determination of Nickel (II) using 4-chloroisonitrosoacetophenone semicarbazone as a reagent. The reagent reacts with Ni(II) to give a brown coloured complex which can be quantitatively extracted into chloroform at pH 7.8 - 8.0. Molar absorptivity at 368 nm is observed to be 3.38756 x 105. Beer's law is obeyed in the range 0.15 ug to 19 ug. The proposed method has been used for analysis of Ni(lI) in real samples like hydrogenated oil, steel and brass.
