Putranjiva roxburghiiseeds have been found to be rich in calorie contents (6794 calorie/ gm) 0141.63%; proteins 13.89%, carbohydrate 23.81 %; ash 5.04%; moisture 4.10%. Various chromato-graphic techniques revealed that palmitic, stearic, oleic and linolenic acids are the constituent fatty acids of the seed oil. Linolenic acid, which is an essential fatty acid, was found to be present into food amounts (30.20%). Atomic absorption spectrophotometry analysis of seed ash indicated presence of Cu++, Co++,Ni++, Pb++, Zn++, Fe+++,, Na+ and K+ cations in it
