Various fluorescent brightening agents have been synthesised by condensing 3-(N- phenylamino)-4,6-dimethyl coumarin with cyanuric chloride and various amines. They are characterised by their nitrogen elemental analysis, uv-visible spectra, IR and PMR spectra. Their dyeing performance have been assessed on polyester and nylon fabric which show very good to excellent washfastness and good to very good light fastness proper ties.
KEYWORDS:3-[N-(phrnyl)-N-(2'-chloro-4'-anilino-s-triazin-6-yl-amino)]-4,6 dimethyl coumarin; fluorescent brightining agents; dyeing; polyester; nylon
