Methylation study of non-cellulose polysaccharides gives very important information about the structure of Lantana acuieata wood hemicelluiose . In this method methylation of purified hemicellulose is done by methyl iodide and silver oxide (Purdic and Irvine method) or by dimethyl sulphate (haworth procedure) and methoxyl value of methylated samples was determined by Tappi Method.
