Ruthenium In trace amount (10-6 mol dm3) was found to catalyse the oxidative decarboxylation of n-butyric acid and iso-butyricacid by eerie sulphate. A mechanism involving Ru (III) - substrate complex was proposed. Rate constant (k), formation constant (K) and the relevant thermodynamic parameters were evaluated and discussed.
