Chemical Examination of Pongamia Pinnata Linn Seeds

Pongamia pinnata Linn seeds have been found to contain calorie (6111 calorie/gm); oil. 25.83%; proteins 30.15%; carbohydrates, 24.63%; ash 2.23%; moisture 4.63%. Various techniques of chromatography revealed the presence of palmitic, oleic and linoletc acids. Atomic absorption analysis of defatted seeds indicated the presence of Cu**, Co**. Ni**, Pb**, Zn**, Na*. K* and Fe*** cations.
