Novel anthraquinone pigments have been prepared by the reaction of aminoanthraquinone with reactive methylene compound using ethyl orthoformate and their dyeing performance as disperse dyes have been assessed on polyester fabrics. The values of λmax, % exhaustion, shade and dyeing behaviour such as light, wash, perspiration, rubbing and sublimation fastness of the prepared compounds have been studied.
