Oxovanacdium complexes of Schitfs bases derived from 2-hydroxy-5-nitrobenzaldehyde. 2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde and2,2'-diamino-diphenyl disulphide are synthesised. All the com pounds were characterised by elemental analyses. IR,UV, ESR and magnetic measurements. These complexes possess 1:1 metal ligand stoichiometry and are found to be non-electrolytic and paramagnetic in nature. Magnetic moments for these complexes fall in the range 1.56 to 1.63 B.M. From the spectral data and magnetic measurements pyramidal geometry can be predicted for these metal-ligand chelates.
KEYWORDS:Oxovanacdium; 2-hydroxy-5-nitrobenzaldehyde; stoichiometry
