Certain diazo dye analogue (I) having 1,3-thiazole ring have been synthesized by diazotization of 2-amino-4-phenyl-thiazole and coupling with aromatic amines, phenols and naphthols. These compounds have been screened as antibacterial agents. They have also been tested for their dying property for pulp paper. The identities of these compounds have been established on the basis of certain chemical transformation, elemental and spectral analysis.
KEYWORDS:Antimicrobial; 3-Thiazole; Diazotization
