None of the methods reported for detection of caster oil In edible oils are satisfactory. They suffer either with limitations of the techniques or beyond the reach of food inspecting laboratories. Subject of adulteration is covered under prevention of Food Adulteration Act (PFA) and heavy penalties are imposed on manufacturer's if any adulteration is found in the edible oil. Therefore, a rational approach has been suggested to tackle this problem.
