Constituents of Heliotropium Indicum

Chromatographic resolution of the alkaloidal and non-alkaloidal fractions of the whole plant of Heliotropium indicum furnished pyrrolizidine alkaloids, heliotrine and lasiocarpine and non-alkaloids, β-sitosterol, lupeol, β-amyrin and β-sitosterolglucoside, which were characterized by spectral analysis. This is first report of the occurrence of the above non-alkaloids in H. indicum.
