The metal derivatives of 2~Hydroxy~5-methoxy azo benzene-2'-carboxylic acid have been found many applications in dyeing industries. They improve the fastness of the dye towards washing used in preparation of organic pigments. Because of above factors the chelates of Mn(II), Fe(ll), Co(ll), Ni(ll), Zn(ll), and UO2+2 with the dye (5-Methoxy dye) have been prepared and characterized on the basis of some metal derivatives of the dye have been determined spectrophotometrically. This follows the Irving-Williams sequence i.e. Zn < Co < Ni< U02+2 < Cu.
