An HPLC method was developed and validated for the analysis of any phenol derivative present in the finished products of antiseptics, Calibration curves for PCMX. DCMXand PCMC were established and all the three calibration curves of the system showed excellent linearity at concentrations between 0.1 - 30 ug/ml. The developed method was used to analyze 30 different products of chlorophenol derivatives present in the market and a comparative study was carried out between them. Avittol and Dettol were the only two products found to comply with the standard specifications.
