Photosensitized - Oxidation of 2- Furan Carbaldehyde in Presence of Uranyl Salts

The photosensitized-oxidation of 2- furan carbaldehyde in methanol was studied. The photo product was identified as 2-furan carboxylic acid by physical, chemical and spectral methods. The intermediacy of uranium (V) was proved spectrophotometrically and a mechanism has been proposed.
