Synthesis, Spectral Behaviour and Antimicrobial Activity of Some New Styrylcyanine Dyes

New Styrylcyanine dyes incorporating thiadiazole nucleus have been synthesised. Spectral behaviour in UV - vis. absorption spectra of the Cyanines have been discussed. Bactericidal and fungicidal activities of selected Cyanine dyes were tested.
