2-Hydroxy-3-nitro-5-methyl acetophenone and 2-Hydorxy-3-Bromo 5-methyl acetophenone on condensation with aniline, o-nitroaniline, p-toludine and m-toludine in ethanol in presence of 2,3 drops of concentrated H2SO4 gives schiffbases. These schiff bases shows antimicrobial activity against test organism S. aureus, E. Co*, Saigella dysentriae and Salmonella typhi.
