Conventional paints and varnishes are based on organic solvents which are costly, environment pollutants and toxic. Efforts to develop water dispersible polymers which eliminate or reduce organic solvents as well as are capable of electrodeposition are in progress. The present paper describes electrocoating compositions based on epoxies where epoxy molecules have been modified to make them water dispersible. The modified compositions do not require external emulsifiers for their water dispersion.
