Abstract:
Dye-sensitized solar cell is an application of solar cell technology based on electrochemical principles. In these cells TiO2 photoelectrode layer absorbs the sensitive dye. The present study investigated the mechanism of this eco-friendly solar cell's fabrication sensitized by a natural dye Chenopodium album. The pigment, chlorophyll, was isolated from Chenopodium album (Bathua) and subjected to FTIR, UV-visible spectroscopy, and FESEM analysis. The solar cell's current-voltage (I-V) properties were tested using three different solvents: ethanol, dimethyl sulphoxide (DMSO) and isopropanol. The energy conversion efficiency η of the fabricated DSSC found 1.37%, 1.07%, and 1.44%, respectively.
