Synthesis and Quaternization of 5-Amino-1-Aryl-Imidazol- 4-Carboxamides and Their Related Imidazo-Pyrahnes

Synthesis of some new 5-amino-1-(aryl)-imidazole-4-carbox-amides 3 via two routes is described. Reactions of 3 with ethyl bromoacetate and phenacyl bromide afforded the quatetnary-pyrazine-4-ium 4 and - phenacy-imidazolium 7 bromides respectively. The aryl-amino-imidazo-pyrazines 6 and 9 are obtained from the synthesized bromide, Structure of the products is confirmed by i.r.u.v. H1n.m.r and mass spectral determinations.
