The solid complexes of Cu (II), Ni(II), Cd (II), UO2 (II), Ce(III) and Fe (III) with 1-phenyl-3- methyl-4-(x-phenylhydrazone)-pyrazolin-5-one (x=2—SOaNa (4-Me), 3-SOsNa and 4-SO|N^ of the general formula-MLn . x H20 (where nx=l or 2) have been prepared and characterized by IR, UV and visible measurements. The structure of the solid complexes was proposed. The stability constant and the free energy of the formed complexes have been determined by pH-metrically in 75% (v/v dioxane-water mixture. In general the stability sequence follows: UO2(II)> Cu(II) > Ni(II)> Cd(II)> Ce(III). The isolated solid complexes as well as the organic dyes were screened for antibacterial and antifungal activity.
