The compound 1-(pnitrobenzyl)-4-methyl pyridinium bromide has been reported to have antibacterial and anticancerous properties. It was reduced polarographically at different pH from 2.0 to 10.0. Effect of pH on E 1/2 was studied in details. Reduction was fouod to be one electron reversible process, involving dimerization of the pyridinium ion through free ralical formation, indicating reduction of pyridine nucleus under electrolytic conditions.
