A polarographic and spectrophotometric study of the vanadateresorcinol system revealed the formation of 1:1 complex [VO2(HR)]+. The metal atoms is bonded to the ligand RH2 by replace* ment of one of its hydrogen ions. The vandate ion it reduced at DME to V (IV) and V (III) along two waves of equal heights in the presence of H2R. The first wave splits into two daughters which are due to two different polymeric species of V (V). The waves are irreversible and diffusion controlled with kinetic component.
