A new spectrophotometric method is described for the determination of paracetamol based on the oxidation of paracetamol by potassium periodate in 3 M sulphuric acid medium. The absorbance of the yellow colour formed is measured at 410 nm. The method was successfully applied to thh determination of paracetamol in various pharmaceutical preparations.
