Uranium (VI) forms a pale yellow coloured complex with N -methylaminothioformyl-N*-
phenylhydroxylamine. The complex has maximum absorbance at 400 nm at pH 4.7-5.3. Beers
law is valid upto 22.6 ppm of uranium (VI). The molar absorptivity is 2.3 x 104 mol-1 cm-1.
The effect of diverse ions, stability constants and the structure of the complex are discussed.
