Kinetics of oxidation of a series of four benzaldoximes by chloramine-T (CAT) in acid medium has been studied at different tempratures. The reactions showed first order dependence on [CAT] and [H+] and zero order in [substrate]. The rates of oxidation have negligible effect by the addition of the sale The rate of the substiiuents increased in the order : p-OMe > H > m-OMe > m-Cl. The probable mechanism constating of the formation of [HOCJ] as a slow step has been suggested, Kth the products being the corresponding aldehydes. Activation parameters have been computed.
