4-aryl-3,4-dihydro pyrimidine-2(III) thiones (Ila-i) have been prepared. The N-acetyl and N-benzoyl derivatives (IIIa-i) were obtained via the reaction of the former thiones with acid chlorides. When compounds (llh,i) reacted with chloro acetyl chloride the 5-aryl-II -(arylmethylene) ,2,3,6,7,8,10,11-octahydro-5-H-cycloocta [d] thiazoio [3,2a] pyrimidine*-3-ones (Va) and (Vb) were obtained respectively. Further chemical proof for the structure of compounds (Va,b) was carried out through the reaction of (IIh,i) with chloro acetic acid in acetic acid-acetic anhydride in presence of anhydrous sodium acetate. On the other hand compounds (IVa-i) were also obtained, Some of the above mentioned products have been bacteriologically screened.
