The iron (III) complex of 1-dienthylamino-2- propanol adsorbed on microcrystalline naphthalene followed by solid - liquid separation is described for the determination of trace amount of iron (III). This complex is stable in naphthalene dimethyl formamide solution. The absorbance showed a linear relationship with concentration of iron (III) in the range of 5-150μg. The molar absorptivity was 9.311 x 103 1 mol-1 cm-1 the sensitivity being 0.008 μg cm-1 for the absorbance of 0.001.
