Twelve mixed bifunctional reactive dyes viz 1-Naphthol-2-[2'-methoxy-5,-methyl-4,-(p-sulphatoethyl sulphonyl) phenyl] azo-8-(2"-chloro-4"'-aryl ureido-6B-yl-s-triazene) amino sodium salt of 3,6-disulphonic acid (VIla-1) were prepared by condensing 1-Naphthol-8-amino-3,6-sulphonic acid(l) with cyanuric chloride (II) and coupling with diazotised 2-methoxy-5-methyl-4-(β-sulphatoethyl sulphonyl) aniline (IV) and finally condensing with various aryl ureas (Vla-1)These dyes when applied to knitted cotton fabric gave magenta, violet, pink and red shaded with moderate to good light fastness, good to excellent wash fastness and very good to excellent exhaustion.
KEYWORDS:Sulphatoethyl; disulphonic; chloride triazene
