Ligands containing N-N-O, N-S-0 and N-O-O moiety and their bivalent metal chelates were synthesised and characterised using different physico-chemical techniques. These Ligands and metalchelates were screened against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. Metal-chelates were found to be potent antibacterial than the ligands and metals. Among metals Cu(ll) chelates showed significant antibacterial property.
