Mucuna pruriens Bak. Seeds yielded a water soluble sugars as D-galactose & D-mannose in 1:3 molar ration. Seeds polysaccharide upon graded hydrolysis with H2S04 gave a mixture of 4 di & 1trisaccharide as : α-D-galactopyranosyl-(1-> 6)-O-α-D-mannopyranose, β -D-mannopyranosyl-(1 -» 6)-0-β -D-mannopyranose; β -D-galactopyranosyl-(1 -» 4)-O-β-D-mannopyranose; β -D-mannopyranosyl-( 1-»4)-O- β-D-mannopyranose and α-O-galctopyranosyl -(1 -» 6)-O-α-D-mannopyranosyl-( 1-» 4)-O-β-D-mannopyranose.
