TiO2 - sensitised photo-oxidation of acetone semicarbazone has studies. The increase in the polarity of the solvent increases the yield of photoproduct while the increasing amount of substrate and amount of photocatalyst increases in the yield of photoproduct only upto a certain limit (0.200gm) above which the yield is not affecting appreciably. The rate of the reaction increases with the increase in the band gap of the semiconductor. A probable reasoning has been proposed giving structure reactivity relationship of acetone semicarbazone with the isolation of photoproduct. The reaction mechanism of TiO2 sensitised photo-oxidation of substrate has been suggested.
