Synthesis of 2-Methyl -3-(4*-Methyl Phenyl)-6-Aryl Azo-4-Oxoquinazoline Derivatives and their Application

A series of dyes have been prepared by coupled diazotised 2-methyl-3-(2-methylphenyl)-6-amino-4-oxoquinazoline with various coupling components to give 4-oxoqtinazobnt based dyes and their dyeing performance on silk, wool and viscose rayon has bean assessed. These dyes have bean found to give variety of colour shades with very good depth and levelness on the fibers. The IR spectra showed all characteristic bands and a representative dye PMR spectra showed all the signals. The percentage dye-bath exhaustion and fixation on different fibers was reasonably good and acceptable. The dyed fibers showed good to excellent fastness to light, washing and rubbing.
