3-Aroyl flavanones (1a-j) were allowed to react with NH2 OH- HCl in dioxane containing piperidine to give the corresponding 3-(2-hydroxyphenyl)-4-aroyl-5-arylisoxazolines (2a-j). There structural assignment are based on the elemental analysis, spectra data (IR, UV & NMR) and chemical properties. All these compounds were tested in vitro for their antibacterial activity by disk-diffusion method against Gram positive and Gram negative bacterials. In some of the compounds the results are found to be encouraging.
KEYWORDS:3-(2-Hydroxyphenyl)-4-royl-5-arylixosazoline; antibacterial activity
