The mixture of hydrazide 4(a-f) and with appropriate ketone namely acetophenone, p-methyl acetophenone, p-chloro acetophenone, p-bromo acetophenone, p-nitro acetophenone was refluxed in methanol containing catalytic amount of glacial acetic acid to get the hydrazones (5 a-f). Cyclisation of hydrazones with excess of acetic anhydride to give corresponding 2-(4-acetyl -5-methyl-5-phenyl-4,5-dihydro-[1,3,4]oxadiazol-2-methyl)-5-methyl-4-(4’-substituted aryl hydrazono)-2,4-dihydro-pyrozole-3-one 6 a-j. The structures of these newly synthesized compounds were characterized by 1H-NMR, Mass, IR and elemental analysis.
