The current review represents the wide choice of electrochemical techniques available for the determination of drugs in biological fluids, an important area which has recently come up age through the advent of commercial instrumentation. This review is organised in two major sections comprises direct analysis in biological samples, analyses following solvent extractions Differential pulse polarographic assays of high sensitivity and specificity are described for the determination of drugs in biological fluids. Methods of sample preparation are detailed to ensure specificity against control or background interferences, metabolities or co-administrated drugs. The general applicability of the electrochemical techniques in terms of simplicity, flexibility with other methods is also described.
KEYWORDS:Electrochemical; metabolities; polarographic; administrated
