Enaminones have three nucleophilic sites (a, c and e) and two electrophilic sites (b and d). Consequently they can participate in many types of reactions. Photochemical, pericyclic, dipolar cyclo addition, reduction and oxidation reactions of enaminones are reported. Also, the utility of microwaves as an energy source for heterocyclic synthesis is discussed.
KEYWORDS:Enaminones; nucleophile; electrophile; hotochemical, pericyclic; dipolar cycloaddition; microwave irradiation
