Bio-diesel of karanj oil from Jharkhand region has been prepared by transesterification method. Various physical and chemical properties of the bio-diesel have been determined. Thermal efficiency of bio-diesel of karanj oil has been determined and found to be slightly less than that of the diesel. Maximum thermal efficiency of different blends has been determined and values found to be approaching to diesel at the minimum blending. The brake specific fuel consumption of bio-diesel of karanj oil is slightly higher as compared to diesel.
