The formation constant of binary M(II)-CPHQO and ternary [M(II)-CPHQO-A] chelates [where M(II)=Co(II), Ni(ll), Cu(ll) and Zn(ll); CPHQO=2(o-carboxy phenyl)-3-hydroxy-4(3H)quinazolinone; A = glycine, alanine, proline, histidine, iminodiacetic acid, nitrilotriaceticacid, 2,2'-Bipyridyl and ethylenediamine] have been determined pH metrically in 10% (v/v) aq. ethanol medium at 30°C and ionic strength of I = 0.1 M KNO3. The order of formation constants of binary and ternary chelates follows lrving-William order [Co (ll)< Ni(ll)<cu(ll)>Zn(ll)]. The proton-ligand, metal ligand and ternary metal complexes formation constants also evaluated at different temperatures. Thermodynamic parameters have also been determined.
