Reaction between 4-pyridine carboxylic acid hydrazide (INH) and salicylaldehyde yields a Schiff base with donor framework. It forms several complexes with transition and non transition metal ions. In the present work two metals, iron and mercury have been taken. The complexes of INH with iron and mercury have been synthesized and characterized, based on analytical data, molar conductance, stability constant, magnetic, IR and electronic data. Conductometric studies reveal that INH forms 2:1 complexes with iron and mercury. Based on analytical data, the complexes have been formulated as (C13H10N3O2)2Fe2H2O and (C13H10N3O2)2Hg.
