Reactions of dimethylsulphate with N-methylacetamide, N-methyl formamide, formamide, N,N-dimethyl formamide yield new products of the type Me2OSO3 Amide. These products have been characterized on the basis of elemental analysis, molar conductances, molecular weights, thermochemical and spectroscopic data, which indicate the transfer of methyl group from dimethylsulphate to nitrogen of amide giving rise to ionic products of the formula (Amide.CH3)+ (CH3SO4)-.
