2-Aryl-3-(4'-trifluoromethylphenyl)-5-methyl-4-thiazolidinones (IIa-IIm) have been prepared by the cyclocondensation of thiolactic acid with schiff bases (Ia-Im) which are prepared by the reaction between 4-amino benzontrifluoride and aromatic aldehydes. The structure of the synthesised compounds have been confirmed by elemental analysis, IR and 1H NMR spectroscopy. All the synthesised compounds are evaluated for their invitro growth inhibitory activity against Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria.
KEYWORDS:p-Aminobenzotrifluoride; 4-Thiazolidinones; Antibacterial activity
