Photocatalytic degradation of 4-chloro-2-methylphenoxyacetic acid (2,4-MCPA) using TiO2 particle suspension has been carried out. Different heat treated TiO2 particles were used for the degradation in which highly crystalline, pure anatase form of TiO2 seems to be most efficient in the presence of an oxidising agent, H2O2. The rate and the extent of degradation of MCPA is determined by UV-visible, IR-spectroscopy and with high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) technique. A detailed kinetic study is presented.
