A detailed d.c. and complex plane polarographic study of cobaltous ion in acetonitrile-water mixtures have been made. It is found that acetonitrile involves in complex formation with cobaltous ion and the formula of the complex varies with varying acetonitrile proportion. It is also observed that the changes in the formula of the complex leads to changes in the degree of irreversibility. There is a nice correlaton between d.c. and complex plane polarographic results.
