Oxovanadium(IV), chromium(III), manganese(II), iron(III), cobalt(II), nickel(II), copper(II) and zinc(II) complexes of 4-formyloxime-3-methyl-1-(2',4'-dinitrophenyl)-2-pyrazolin-5-one have been prepared and characterized on the basis of elemental analysis, conductivity, magnetic moment and spectral studies. All the complexes are suggested to have octahedral structures. The ligand field parameters for oxovanadium (IV), chromium(III), iron(II), cobalt(II) and nickel(II) complexes are also calculated. All the synthesized metal chelates have been screened for their biological activities against various microorganisms.
