An attempt has been made in the present study to estimate the pollution load of a few toxic and nontoxic metals in Cauvery river. Along the course of the river, samples were collected at ten different sampling points over a period of three months. The concentration of metal ions has been determined by Atomic Absorption Spectrometric [AAS] method. The results reveal that the Cauvery water is polluted to a large extent. The river water should be treated before it is taken for industrial and human consumption.
